Terms & Conditions

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of Log Weight Pro (the "App"), published by Tāne Langton ("we", "us", or "our"). By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

1. User Accounts

To access certain features of the App, you may need to create an account using Google Sign-In, Apple Sign-In, or email registration. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Please notify us immediately at help@logweightpro.com if you suspect unauthorised use.

2. Subscriptions & In-App Purchases

a. Free Tier

The App includes a free tier that allows up to 10 log entries. No payment is required for the free tier.

b. Premium Subscription

Log Weight Pro offers an optional auto-renewing Premium subscription that unlocks unlimited log entries and additional features. Subscription pricing and terms are displayed in the App at the time of purchase.

c. Billing & Renewal

All subscriptions are processed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Your subscription will automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date. Subscription management and cancellation are handled through your device's app store settings.

d. Refunds

Refund requests are handled by the respective app store (Apple or Google) in accordance with their refund policies. We do not process refunds directly.

3. Weight Calculation Disclaimer

IMPORTANT: All weight calculations provided by Log Weight Pro are estimates only, based on published green wood density data and standard log scaling formulas (Smalian's formula and Newton's formula). They are not certified measurements.

You must not rely solely on this App for safety-critical decisions, including but not limited to crane lift planning, rigging load assessments, or transport weight compliance. Always verify weights with certified weighing equipment for any safety-critical operation.

Actual log weights can vary significantly due to factors including but not limited to: moisture content variation within and between trees, wood density differences within a species, irregular log shapes, internal decay or hollowing, bark thickness, and environmental conditions. The App provides estimates to assist with planning — it does not replace professional judgement or certified equipment.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the App for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws.
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the App's servers, databases, or connected services.
  • Create multiple accounts to circumvent the free tier limitations.
  • Use automated systems to access the App in a manner that exceeds reasonable use.
  • Transmit harmful code, viruses, or other malicious content through the App.

5. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account and access to the App at our sole discretion, without prior notice, if we believe you have violated these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the App ceases immediately. You may also delete your account at any time by contacting us at help@logweightpro.com.

6. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Tāne Langton shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from or related to your use of the App. This includes, without limitation, damages arising from reliance on weight calculations, loss of data, loss of profits, or business interruption.

Our total liability for any claim arising from or related to the App shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App or subscription in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE", without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We expressly disclaim all implied warranties, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that:

  • Weight calculations will be accurate for all tree species, log conditions, or use cases.
  • The App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.
  • Green wood density data used in calculations reflects the actual density of any specific log.
  • The App will meet your specific requirements or expectations.

8. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of New Zealand. Any disputes arising from or related to these Terms or the App shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New Zealand.

9. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you via the App or by updating the effective date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
